Feles carried the strung bow under her sword-arm, setting the quiver stacked with well-fletched arrows down on the paved stone. She stretched out and uttered a deep, throaty purr, then stopped sharply and looked around. She mustn't become too animal, or she would lose her fighting prowess. Selecting an arrow and fitting it to the string, Feles closed her weak eye in readiness for practice, drawing her right arm back until her hand touched her ear. Released the arrow...
With a dull thud, it hit the dead centre of the bullseye.
Feles smiled to herself, a wide, catlike smile, all else forgotten. She hadn't lost it after all!
Then she was brought back to reality with a dull thud. It was probably beginners' luck. She took a second arrow and started again. It sliced the first arrow into a perfect half.

So this went on until the last arrow was left. Feles left nothing to chance, preparing the arrow with amazing speed. She released it...and it hit in the same spot the last 19 arrows had hit. Feles smiled so wide it seemed like her face was going to split, for she knew that now she was truly a professional archer. True, Raven might rage at the sight of the empty quiver, but what did she care? Slinging the quiver's strap across her shoulder so she could feel the quiver against her hip and unstringing the bow, then tucking it securely under her right arm, Feles set off towards the weapon store.
